HEALING GROUPS USING G-TEP

Our community has faced tremendous trauma and strain with recent "Operation Metro Surge". Though an inspiring communal response arose, so too has our collective trauma and hypervigilance. Our community is hurting, and deserves healing.

Which Symptoms Might Suggest that My Body is Holding Trauma?

They could look like:

- Sleep disturbance, intrusive thoughts and/or images, dissociation (feeling outside of one's body or the moment, flashbacks), prolonged or intense distress when exposed to cues, quicker or marked changes in emotions, prolonged periods of anxiety, avoiding reminders, changes in beliefs about the self or the world, loss of interest in things one used to enjoy/more difficulty feeling joy, feeling further away from others, hypervigilance, increase in self-destructive behaviors, difficulty concentrating, etc.

Collective Healing as a Next Step

In February of 2026, Maureen was fortunate enough to receive training in G-TEP, or Group Trauma Episodes Protocol. This protocol has its roots in EMDR, and has been used throughout the world through major crisis events. It is equivalent to psychological triage; reducing the distress symptoms during ongoing stressors, or "turning the temperature down". Though the occupation has shifted, we know that threats to safety are ongoing, and that the work isn't over. This is a moment where some initial healing can happen, and we want to offer that to our community.

What is G-TEP?

G-TEP allows for safe and contained trauma healing in the group setting. There is no sharing of trauma stories or distress, so the work is private, all while the healing happens concurrently in community with others. It's a beautiful way to work through hard stuff in the held and shared space of others.

G-TEP is done with a lead therapist, and an assisting therapist (or two). The group is walked through steps of healing, with each person working on their own worksheet.

G-TEP can be done online or in person, and with 1-12 participants.

Payment

The groups are currently donation-based, with all proceeds going to mutual aid. Clinicians will provide details as to where proceeds are being donated at each particular event.
